Board #290 | One Love, Two Love, Pink Love, Blue Love

One of my favorite color combinations is one of the simplest: pink and blue. I love hot pink with navy, or maybe hot pink and aqua, or today, pale peachy pink with French blue. It is sweet, classic, and perfect for a garden luncheon. Hang a crystal chandelier from a tree to dress things up, and place various vintage bottles of tulips on tables to dress things down. And how perfect is the detail of lacing the groom’s shoes with blue laces?

Heather & Eric | Vintage-Inspired Engagement Photos

While I understand why a couple might want to have engagement photos for themselves, I had never seen any that really stood out to me (though I do love this idea). At least not until Samuel Lippke emailed me with these photos from Heather and Eric’s gorgeous engagement shoot. Heather is an assistant for Trina Turk, and Eric is a painter, art curator, and DJ. Before their engagement shoot, Samuel spoke with them and suggested doing something a little different – something unique and artistic that reflected who they are. The spring shoot took place at their friends’ ranch in Fallbrook, California. Items such as an antique dress, a parasol and a tripod helped to create a timeless story of a couple in love.

A huge thank you to Samuel Lippke for sending these photos to me, and congratulations to Heather and Eric! Maybe we’ll get to see some photos from your recent wedding…

On a personal note, as I was in the middle of getting this post ready, my dear sweet friend Elizabeth called me to share her good news – she’s engaged! Congratulations Elizabeth – I love you and could not be happier!

I’m moving a little slowly today folks. Sorry about that! I wanted to put together a board that was full of autumn colors – the fiery shameless ones. But also wanted to make sure I was channeling brilliant fall leaves, rather than McDonald’s decor, so I kept it slightly rustic, with an outdoor ceremony and a barn venue, and plenty of fun patterned fabrics. Happy Friday, and happy fall!

Mood: autumn cheer
Palette: all shades of red, orange, yellow

A few months ago I made an all-white inspiration board that was slightly modern, in shades of cool white and gray. Today’s board also uses an all-white palette, but it is warmer, and though the difference might be subtle, it does create a distinct look. The large round balloons, kitschy paper bells, and a cake decorated with crepe paper flowers add a touch of whimsy to a classic and sophisticated wedding. Cherry red nail polish adds just a touch of unexpected color. And how much do I love that dress by Victoria Beckham – who knew?

Mood: warm and classic, whimsical romance
Palette: warm white, cream, pale yellow
