Navy and yellow is one of the preppiest color combinations around, and it’s often applied to a nautical theme. But not this time! In this inspiration board, I imagined a late winter or early spring City Hall wedding for a sassy modern couple (a ruffly yellow dress by Heidi Merrick! navy blue nail polish!). Lemons are a perfect decorative element for the season, and bouquets of narcissus and cattleya orchids are both sweet and sophisticated. And how could I resist the chair from the Viceroy Palm Springs? Where do you think the best place would be for this couple’s reception? An intimate meal at a favorite restaurant? A sleek urban loft? Any ideas?

There is no reason that a black and white palette has to mean black-tie. There is certainly something inherently chic about this palette of opposites, but not necessarily fussy or formal. In this inspiration board, I aimed for something playful with a modern edge. A black-and-white photobooth is a must, as are chalkboard elements and Oreo cookie favors. Any other ideas for playful black and white details?

Vineyard weddings are so timeless and beautiful, yet I haven’t done very many vineyard inspiration boards. I thought I’d use one of my new favorite fall colors, aubergine, and use it in this formal, rustic vineyard wedding board. Grapes, violets, an intimate candlelit dinner. Change the floral and harvest elements slightly, and this venue and color scheme could work in any season.

Mood: formal, intimate, vineyard
Palette: grape purple, vine green
