Monthly Archives: June 2011

This weekend I’m in San Diego visiting my sister and my darling nephews, going to swimming lessons and reading stories and snuggling. I’m also doing my best to put the burn on my sister to move to Northern California so I can see more of them, and so that I have someone nearby who’s more addicted to sweets than I am – I’ll let you know how that works out.

Lots of fun links for your weekend…

Our wedding is in San Francisco Brides!

This beach cover-up would probably look like a tent on me, but I love the idea of it.

Some day I will own an Hermes scarf, via Mrs. Lilien.

A trip to Provence sounds lovely.

More beach wedding ideas for the first official week of summer! I didn’t want to go all out with a shipwrecked theme (no Pirates of the Caribbean today), so I combined that whimsical element (in the form of messages in a bottle, old nautical charts, sunken treasure-inspired jewelry) with a laid back bohemian island vibe (rum-filled coconuts, breezy beach tablescapes, a gauzy kaftan dress). To be completely honest, I wouldn’t mind spending some vacation time inside this inspiration board…

Mood: bohemian island chic
Palette: sea glass, white sand

Top row from left: photo of sailboat by You Look Nice Today, photo of message in a bottle by Millie Holloman, emerald ring by Sarah Perlis, coral and bell jars from Pale & Interesting
Row 2: pearl necklaces from Martha Stewart Weddings, listening to conch shell photo by Stephanie Williams for Ruche
Row 3: beach kaftan via This is Glamorous, nautical chart map from eBay, row boat “cooler” from Details Event Planning
Row 4: photo of rum-filled coconut by Brandon King, photo of beach table with canopy by Ozzy Garcia, blue ocean from Chance Co.

Today marks the first official day of summer, and it is officially HOT. An easygoing oceanside inspiration board seemed like just the thing. This faded blue and white palette has a preppy vibe to it, and though I love its simplicity, a pop of orange or pink could punch it up for those with a preference for more color. Summery details include blueberries, seersucker, espadrilles and hydrangea. Oars, sailboats and cracked crab play up the coastal setting.

Mood: coastal casual
Palette: blue chambray, weathered gray, stone white

Top row from left: chambray dress from Shabby Apple, photo of blueberries by Erica Lea Photography, seersucker tie from Tommy Hilfiger, crab via Tartelette
Row 2: dipped baskets from Wisteria via Lonny Blog, blue and white seat cushions from The White Company, painted oars via Frugal Farmhouse
Row 3: classic invitations and starfish from Martha Stewart Weddings, basket drink cooler from West Elm via Camille Styles, striped envelope liner by Mr Boddington’s Studio, blueberry and lemon mascarpone tart from Donna Hay
Row 4: white hydrangea bouquet from Wedding Style Guide, navy blue espadrilles from Chance Co., dress from J.Crew, photo of Cape Cod house and Adirondack chair by Michael Howard

I’m so excited to welcome wedding photographer Jen Lynne as one of our newest sponsors! Jen shoots weddings in both digital and film, and you know how much I love film. Of course all you really need to know is that her photography is lovely, but I’ll let the images speak for themselves…

Jen Lynne offers several wedding photo packages (all of which include complimentary engagement sessions), as well as hourly rates. And even though she is based in Michigan, Jen will travel anywhere you can think to get married, and right now the cost of travel is included in the package price, so definitely take advantage of that! See more of her beautiful work on her website and her blog – I hope to see some Snippet & Ink reader weddings posted there soon!
