This weekend I’m in San Diego visiting my sister and my darling nephews, going to swimming lessons and reading stories and snuggling. I’m also doing my best to put the burn on my sister to move to Northern California so I can see more of them, and so that I have someone nearby who’s more addicted to sweets than I am – I’ll let you know how that works out.

I’m so excited to welcome wedding photographer Jen Lynne as one of our newest sponsors! Jen shoots weddings in both digital and film, and you know how much I love film. Of course all you really need to know is that her photography is lovely, but I’ll let the images speak for themselves…

Jen Lynne offers several wedding photo packages (all of which include complimentary engagement sessions), as well as hourly rates. And even though she is based in Michigan, Jen will travel anywhere you can think to get married, and right now the cost of travel is included in the package price, so definitely take advantage of that! See more of her beautiful work on her website and her blog – I hope to see some Snippet & Ink reader weddings posted there soon!

Do you ever have those weeks where you get totally thrown off, and think Tuesday is Wednesday and Thursday is Friday? Well, that was this week for me – I don’t think I ever knew what day it was! Needless to say, I’m hoping the weekend will help me reset my brain. Steak-and-eggs breakfast with dad will help, right? How are you celebrating your dad this weekend?

With a love of music and all things vintage (and each other of course!), Geri and Zach had plenty of inspiration for their wedding at the beautiful Inn at Serenbe, and found ways to incorporate their personalities throughout the day. The ladies at SimplyBloom Photography kindly sent over some eye candy for us…

I kind of can’t get over Geri’s Miu Miu shoes – those bows!

On their ceremony: Our family friends played a violin and guitar for the ceremony processional (“We Rule The School” by Belle & Sebastian, “I’m in Love With a Girl” by Big Star), and for the recessional (“Home” by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros). Our dog Bud walked down with our Maid of Honor because our wedding would not have been complete without him there. Bud has been my dog for 15 years and he is like our child.

Guests enjoyed bottles of Cheerwine and cream soda, Geri and Zach’s favorites.

White anemones with black centers fit the color palette perfectly, and were included in everything from the bride’s bouquet to the centerpieces to the cake.

From the bride and groom…

Why did you choose this place for your wedding? We chose Serenbe for our wedding because we live in New York and are always in the hustle and bustle of things. We wanted a serene spot that represented our upbringing in the South (we are from Florida and Georgia) and that was an escape for all our guests. With the combination of fantastic Southern food, nature, and a vintage aesthetic, our inspirations came to life there. Serenbe is a perfect slice of heaven and we couldn’t resist as soon as we saw it. It was perfect!

What inspired you? The day of our wedding was a complete reflection of us. We love nature, we love kitschy vintage things, we love music, and we love our dog. Geri loves black-and-white striped everything so it was a no brainer that would play a huge part in the wedding decoration. Since we love music and Zach is a musician, our escort cards looked like concert tickets and the groom’s cake was a record player. We also chose all the music for the cocktail hour, dinner, and reception: 1950′s and early 60′s music with Indie rock. Our perfect mix.

What was your favorite part of the day? There were so many favorite moments! I mean, we just had a fantastic time with everyone! We danced, ate amazing food, saw friends and family from near and far. It was a surreal and perfect day.

Do you have any advice for other brides? While we didn’t hire a wedding planner for the entire wedding process, it was important that we pay the little extra to have one for the day-of coordination. We hired Ashley Baber and let me tell you, both our families would agree it was the best decision we could have ever made. It made the day go so smoothly and she was an incredible help. Zach and I were mentally on a different planet that day, and Ashley helped us stay grounded and made the whole process stress-free. We were able to spend the day in awe of each other and not worrying about details. My other advice is that it will be a perfect day if you let it – things will go wrong but just overlook it. If you get upset or stressed you’ll ruin the day. While we can look back and think of the things that didn’t go our way, we would both agree it was still a perfect day.
