One last bit of wedding goodness before you head out for the weekend: a sneak peek from Martha Stewart Weddings Spring 2012 issue! I’m always a sucker for a gorgeous bouquet, so they had me at hello with this cover…

And here’s a little peek at this season’s Perfect Palette story: We were inspired by two of our favorite flavors: lemon and mint. We love that the pairing is somewhat retro but completely modern. This palette story includes great ways to accessorize your look (and your bridesmaids), delicious cocktails, a stunning idea for ceremony décor that will have you feeling like a garden has sprouted all around you, fresh stationery ideas, and much more. Plus, lemony and minty treats to give your guests, so they end the night on a sweet note.

See more from this story and the rest of the Spring 2012 issue right here, or pick it up on newsstands!

I don’t know if it’s my nature, or the nature of working for oneself, or maybe just the nature of being alive, but sometimes I find myself totally overwhelmed by my to do list, and I’ve been feeling especially overwhelmed these past couple of weeks. My honey and I are heading to Paris next week to visit my sister, and I know I should be excited, but right now I’m mostly worried about all the things that need to be done before I leave. Isn’t that terrible?!

I’m trying to get better at the balancing act, and at maintaining some perspective, and I always love to hear how other people seem to handle this sort of feeling so gracefully. So friends, tell me… what are your tips for managing stress? Any magic tricks for staying present? Or if you’re like me and feeling overwhelmed, hopefully these happy links will be a nice distraction…

Simple elegance is my favorite look, and Nicole and Adam achieved just that for their wedding at Marvimon House last summer. Photos from the darling Annie McElwain:

Thank you to the bride and groom for sharing some details about the day…

Why did you choose this location for your wedding?  We wanted a small and intimate event space that had both an indoor and outdoor area. We immediately fell in love with Marvimon and its uniquely gorgeous garden, exposed brick walls, and beautiful hanging light fixtures; it was so beautiful on its own that we didn’t need to do much to decorate it!

What inspired you when you were planning your wedding?  From the beginning we wanted a very classic, but still unique wedding. The venue became a huge inspiration for the design and color scheme. We love succulents, so we had the florist use them generously in the arrangements, bouquets and boutonnieres; this really helped tie in the flowers beautifully with the plants in the garden. Adam was a film major in school and always loved the elaborate choreography in the old Busby Berkeley movies, so we decided to show the movies on the large projector to create a fun atmosphere and add to the classic theme.

What was your favorite moment or part of the day? Our favorite moment was watching all of our family and friends have a wild time on the dance floor. A close second was running around downtown LA, gown and all, as we took photos.

Did you include any traditions in your wedding? Since the groom is Jewish and the bride is Catholic, we had a Rabbi and Priest officiate the wedding. This made the ceremony special for both sides of the family, as well as for us.

What advice do you have for other brides? Our best advice was probably to soak in every moment, because the day really does go by extremely fast! Also, wear comfortable heels, or if you don’t (like me), at least bring a pair of flip-flops or flats. You will be glad you did!

DIY: Sips & Sweets

SEE MORE: DIY

Using yesterday’s inspiration board as a starting point, Jess imagined a simple wedding reception of sips and sweets, with adorable little layer cakes and pretty pink Depression-era glass plates.

What are some of your favorite cake flavor combinations? We like banana cake with caramel buttercream, sponge cake with lemon cream and fresh raspberries, coconut cake with passion fruit curd, dark chocolate cake with cream cheese frosting…

The other element that Jess created from the inspiration board was a beautiful invitation suite. There’s no reason doing it yourself has to look DIY! All you need is a gorgeous font (we used Belluccia, available for just $39), a decent printer, and hand-cut envelope liners if you’re so inclined (Paper Source has an envelope liner kit to help you out).

A huge thank you to our newest sponsor, Rebecca Hansen, for these beautiful photos!
