How about a pretty, preppy bridal shower for your Monday! Michelle Warren sent over these lovely photos…

Lisa Witt, one of the shower hostesses, kindly shared some of the details from the day: The bride was using pale pink and pale green in her wedding, so the idea was to punch it up a bit for the shower with chartreuse green and rose petal pink.

All of the papers were preppy and sweet, “Just like the bride,” says Lisa. Coordinating pink and chartreuse wrapping paper and ribbons from Paper Source were used throughout.

Guests enjoyed a yummy display from Enjoy Cupcakes. Flavors included: Mojito with green sugared lime zest, Strawberries and Cream, and Chocolate with Fudge Filling.

Flowers were a mix of tulips and orchids from the local farmer’s market, as well as kale, bells of Ireland and various stock flowers from Ocean View Flowers in Lompoc.

Lunch included artichoke bruschetta, orzo arugula salad with feta and grape tomatoes, chicken salad with pecans and cranberries, and butter lettuce salad with green goddess dressing. Guests could sip on pink lemonade, sangria, white wine, and citrus water. And of course there were sweets! Cupcakes (see above), miniature meringues, miniature pink and green macarons, and assorted candies.

I have to confess something silly: sometimes I feel self-conscious about writing these weekend posts, because my weekend plans sound pretty boring. They usually involve hanging out with my hubby, reading, cooking, housework, going for a walk – nothing fancy. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but I feel like if I’m going to share it with you, I should have something exciting lined up, you know?! So, since I don’t have anything particularly note-worthy going on this weekend… what are you up to? How do you make the most of your days off?

This quick film about a cardboard arcade will put a smile on your face.

Gorgeous gilded cakes.

Pop-up book proposal – so sweet.

Wouldn’t this be a nice surprise for your newlywed friends?

The world needs more tulle and lace.

Want to taste this color!

How cute are these sweet little spring chicks.

A lush Napa vineyard and collection of beautiful bouquets is a perfect way to welcome spring, don’t you think? Noa & Rob’s Tuscan-inspired wedding comes from photographer Leah McCormick - and you are just going to love these flowers!

From bouquets to ceremony decor to centerpieces, dahlias in a multitude of colors provided a bright pop of color to the event.

Guests enjoyed an alfresco family-style dinner of filet of beef and Tuscan-style chicken. Says the bride: “We opted for family style because of space constraints, and because we had the long farm tables. It worked out great!”

Why did you choose this location for your wedding?  It was a unique, rustic setting that we have always loved and wanted to share with our guests.

What inspired you when you were planning your wedding?  We wanted a fun, laid-back but beautiful wedding. The theme was “disheveled Tuscany” and everyone of our vendors was exceptional – Natalie Bowen, our caterer, and our wedding planner – in creating a beautiful atmosphere that all guests could enjoy.

What was your favorite moment or part of the day?  The whole day!

Did you include any traditions in your wedding?  Our ceremony incorporated new and old family traditions. I wore the same earrings my great aunt wore when she got married (as she eloped in a red dress and on a white horse). Throughout the ceremony we involved our family – including incorporating a ring blessing and Hawaiian prayer that my mom read. My dad walked me down the “aisle” (a row of vines) and my stepfather married us.

What advice do you have for other brides?  Enjoy every moment, because it goes by fast. Also, get a month-of or day-of coordinator – it’s worth every penny, especially when you are getting married in a venue that involves multiple vendors and providing transportation for the guests. And because our wedding was outside, we made sure to have lots of heaters so our guests would never get cold.
