Jose Villa is here today with a gorgeous wedding from his archives – and let me promise you, it’s just as lovely and inspiring as his newest work!
Just a few more photos of the newlyweds from their visit to Costa Rica…
Did you include any traditions in your wedding? We did a hand fasting ritual at the ceremony. Akil’s mom used one color and my mom used another color, and they tied our hands together as a blessing was read.
What was the best advice you received as a bride? Budget for a wedding planner. Akil and I didn’t see the venue until we flew in for the wedding! Our planner was able to bring our vision to life entirely over email and phone calls and she found everything that we asked for. Everything came out exactly as we discussed.
What advice do you have for other brides? Do a first look before the ceremony. The pictures taken during our first look turned out to be some of our favorite images.
Is there anything else that helps tell the story of the day? It rained the morning of the wedding and we discussed possibly changing locations for the ceremony based on the weather, but just before the start of the ceremony, it stopped raining. After the ceremony, guests were greeted with passed hors d’oeuvres and rum punch in coconuts. A local ice cream cart arrived at the reception to deliver cold treats at the reception, and we ended the night with warm cookies and milk shots.
