This board is for Ann, who sent in such a lovely request. She wanted some help figuring out how to pull together a romantic, feminine event that still fits with the Navy dress whites many of the men will be wearing. Her wedding will be after dark, and she wants to incorporate calla lilies, ostrich feathers, coconut cake, and varying shades of purple ribbon. To make her “Midsummer Night’s Dream” vision work with these various elements, I used a palette of white and purples. Ann was also concerned that, as a New Yorker getting married in the South, she wouldn’t have a good sense of what makes up Southern style. Honestly, I think this is an event that could work just about anywhere. . .what do you think? If this palette seems too dark, I would incorporate more greenery. Some other alternatives are coconut cupcakes in place of a large cake, more lavender and less plum, and lanterns instead of strings of lights.

Mood: evening romance
Palette: plum, lavender, white

Also, I love the flowers, I was having the hardest time with that one. And the lights! Ah, I’m thrilled!

Go with your own style Ann! I live in the South and it gets old going to all Southern style weddings.

This is a lovely board, and it’s convinced me that despite what Pantone says, purple is my favorite color for 2008 events.

this board is lovely! purple is one of my wedding colours- though more plum than lavender- and this board will serve as a great inspiration. I love all your boards, by the way, and wish I could have a million weddings because of ‘em. I especially like your titles for each of your boards. how clever and creative!
