Board #7 | Elizabeth’s Quirky Event

This board is especially for my dear friend Elizabeth! She sent me a photo of the “Farewell Celebration” poster and the yellow J. Crew shoes as initial inspiration, and requested something “quirky” in neutral tones with pops of color. I know Elizabeth adores music (and musicians…), so I also added a musical element. I kept seeing things that I thought Elizabeth would like, so this turned out to be my biggest board yet – it may not even qualify as an inspiration board. More of an event outline! Either way, I hope you enjoy it! What do you think edubs? (Check out Elizabeth’s blog, brown paper & grey linen.)

Mood: quirky vintage
Palette: beige, mustard, vermillion, with hints of kelly green

Row 2: photo from Cig Harvey, letterpress card from typehigh, kissing tree, farewell poster, yellow cardigan photo via {frolic}, novelty favor via Oh Happy Day

While I didn’t pull any images from it, I definitely had Lena Corwin’s fabulous wedding in mind while putting this board together. If you haven’t seen it already (it was featured in the Spring 2006 issue of Martha Stewart Weddings) you should definitely take a look.

Update! How perfect are these invitations via Brooklyn Bride? They really fit the look of the poster Elizabeth sent me originally.

I absolutely love this board and think it perfectly captures the feel we are going for at our wedding. I have been looking all over for non-floral centerpiece ideas that would fit this theme. What type of centerpieces would you do to go with this quirky event?

  • Kathryn says:

Some non-floral centerpiece ideas that I like are breadsticks (Martha Stewart has some recipes for colorful ones), favor boxes on cake plates (anything stacked on a cake plate, actually – even small cakes), and a box or tray of moss. I hope that gives you some ideas! Best of luck.
