Board #97 | Tanya’s Green Wedding

And by green, I mean as environmentally friendly as possible. This was the challenge Tanya posed to me in her email. She is getting married in a gorgeous venue, which makes for an easier task in terms of decorations, and the fewer decorations, the less impact you’re making on the environment. For centerpieces, it’s hard for me to move beyond flowers. To keep it green, the flowers are living potted plants that double as guest favors. I also think a bowl or tall glass vase of green apples would make for a dramatic visual (other non-floral ideas include: a variety of breadsticks, a stack of favors, or individual cakes for every table). Bridesmaids and groomsmen should wear something they will wear again (I think a skirt and blouse for bridesmaids is a nice change, and more versatile), and wedding dresses can be used or vintage. For a bridal bouquet, something that is really a sculpture made of paper can become a keepsake piece of art (this one is from Jude Miller, and Anandamayi Arnold can make incredible ones as well). And, of course, online save-the-dates and recycled paper invitations are a must.
