Inspired by this Luisa Beccaria spread that I first saw on coco + kelley, and by this lovely palette from Martha Stewart Weddings, I thought a lavender and red inspiration board made for a really wonderful summer wedding. It could certainly work in other seasons, but I like the way it feels in a garden setting, with fresh lavender and cherries. The muted almost-gray purple works as a nice backdrop for pops of real cherry red – feminine without being syrupy.

Mood: summer sweet with a touch of sass
Palette: palest lavender, cherry red

Hi all! Sorry for bailing on you yesterday and this morning – even though I can take my laptop with me when I go visit family, it’s so hard to pull myself away from good books and good meals and good laughing to put up a new post! Anyway, I apologize for disappearing yesterday, and hope that this cheerful inspiration board, with its super-saturated candy color, will make up for it…

I was recently reminded of this darling pig note card by Black Pearl Press, and though it would be a fun starting point for a summer barbecue wedding reception. Simple and sweet, with jam and pies and peaches and barbecue. Oh, and mustaches on a stick, just because they’re fun!

Lazy days, dinners al fresco, time with family and friends – these are my favorite things about summer. I thought I’d put together an inspiration board that could certainly be a wedding, but could easily be a simple dinner party in the backyard. The faded blue and white of vintage linen tea towels is an unexpected motif, and an easy way to create a cohesive look.

One of these days, I’m going to have a beautiful garden, and I’m going to have little garden parties where I serve cookies and lemonade. In the meantime, I’ve translated my little dream into a simple garden wedding for you. The color scheme and idea aren’t anything new, but it’s still one of my favorite looks, and the individual images are so lovely that I couldn’t resist.
