Part Two of this bold and romantic photo shoot! I always love the juxtaposition of completely different styles, and I think the various elements in this shoot achieve a perfect balance between modern boldness and soft, timeless romance.

The letterpress place cards untied to reveal a clever accordion-style menu.

In case you missed it, see Part One right here. And again, a huge thank you to all of the talented people who brought this shoot to life!

Last month I had the pleasure of working with some of my absolute favorite creative people (Laurie Arons, Max Gill, and Lisa Lefkowitz, to name a few!) to bring this gorgeous photo shoot to life. It was an amazing opportunity to see all of the work that goes on behind the scenes to make something so beautiful happen – and now I get to share it with you! I hope you love it as much as I do…

The dining room of The Fairmont San Francisco Penthouse Suite, with it’s dramatic black and white walls, really set the tone for the shoot. Boldly patterned linens accented with clear glass candlesticks and modern Louis Ghost chairs, were softened by romantic peach and orange centerpieces.

Arrangements included tulips, poppies, roses, ranunculus, clematis and kumquats.

The simply elegant dessert table included a variety of macarons (red velvet, orange blossom, Earl Grey, almond amaretto and Tahitian vanilla) and a two-tier cake with both sugar petals and a real rose. For our model, we chose a look that was classic and romantic, but that could also hold its own in such a dramatic venue: head-to-toe lace plus a full-length veil. The black and white bouquet included poppies, anemones, ranunculus, and lily-of-the-valley.

There were so many amazing photos that I couldn’t stop with one post, so check back in for Part Two in a couple hours!  But first, let me give a big shout out to all of the wonderful people who made this shoot happen:

Today’s feature comes from the imagination of Ariella Chezar: a party created with the littlest wedding guests in mind, full of whimsy and butterflies…

Layers of texture and color plus pops of bright, girly color make for an utterly delightful setting.

Instead of flowers, how about a giant agate balloon for each of your young attendants? Tied with a beautiful ombre ribbon, of course.

The playful details extend to this sweethearts table, with a glittery table cloth, opalescent blue tumblers, and ribbon medal place cards.

Paper cones can be filled with anything from paper confetti to caramel corn to potato chips. Dress them up or down with colors and patterns that fit your theme.

I don’t know about you, but this is a party I would love to attend, no matter how old I am! A big thank you to Ariella Chezar and Meg Smith for sharing this story with us. You can see more from this shoot in the current issue of Sweet Paul magazine.

Also! If you love these beautiful photos, Meg Smith is collaborating with Lisa Lefkowitz and Suzy Clement (two more brilliant photographers) on a photography workshop in Sonoma in August. The venue is the gorgeous Twin Palms, which I can honestly say is one of the loveliest places I’ve had the pleasure to visit. Plus, I’ll be speaking on day two of the workshop, so I hope to see you there!

Back in May, I had the pleasure of being a guest at the Little Flower School at Garden Valley Ranch, a gorgeous rose farm in Petaluma, California. Jen Huang was along to capture the beauty of the day, and as an extra bonus, one lucky couple won the chance to model for a bridal shoot, complete with flowers by Saipua and Nicolette Camille.

The day started with a tour of the gardens, followed by lunch at the gazebo, then a flower arranging lesson with Sarah and Nicolette. After attending two of their classes, I have to say that if you’ve never arranged flowers but always wanted to try, the Little Flower School is a great place to start!

Arrangements created by some of the folks attending the class:

When the class had ended, Sarah and Nicolette created a stunning bridal bouquet, elaborate floral headdress, and sweet boutonniere for Judith and Brody, the darling couple who won the photo shoot with Jen. Judith and Brody hadn’t planned to hire a photographer for their own upcoming wedding, so this was the perfect opportunity for them to get some gorgeous photos together.

Congratulations Judith and Brody! And thank you to all of the amazing vendors who brought this lovely day to life…

This is quite possibly my favorite faux wedding we’ve had on Snippet & Ink to date! McKenzie Powell and Belathée created a gorgeous shoot that is both modern and classic, romantic and fresh…

McKenzie shared some details about the design with us: My goal for this shoot was to create something clean, fresh, and polished. An event that felt glamorous and welcoming. Traditional yet modern. White cattleya orchids plus air plants… why not?! And citrus doesn’t exactly fill our Pacific Northwest backyards, but it’s the ultimate pop of freshness and color, especially in winter months, and thankfully grows beautifully just two states away in California.

Although I wanting to err on the side of a more modern design, I couldn’t resist using an amazing antique sideboard for our dessert display. And in fact, the rich cocoa and ganache cake sitting atop the vintage table made for just the type of unexpected juxtaposition I love.

Touches of metallic in the linens, flatware, and votives added warmth and a modern vibe. Sticking with clear glass for much of our centerpiece décor allowed me to mix a variety of styles, from sleek candelabras to heavyweight cut crystal. With an incredible light-filled space as our backdrop, all that glass did not disappoint.
