With spring moving by so quickly, and summer fast approaching, this sweet photo shoot from Ivy Reynolds seemed appropriate. Ivy imagined a hopelessly romantic bride, with a love of books. Inspired by the paper cut art of Su Blackwell, created a simple and whimsical picnic with paper butterfly details…

A box of paper butterflies takes the place of flower petals for the flower girl. Perhaps biodegradable seed paper?

Champagne, cake, pretty pink cherry blossoms – all good choices for a spring bridal shower. But how about a modern trousseau theme? I love this updated take on a hope chest, from Kate Webber and Jess Flood. Says Jess:

We love the tradition of building a hope chest of handmade linens for a bride’s future home. The care, creativity and thoughtfulness of making and collecting items that will last and be passed down for generations is part of a wonderful historic custom that we wanted to see renewed and modernized.

“Blushing Bride” cocktails include sparkling wine, pink grapefruit juice, a splash of grenadine, all garnished with a raspberry. Mmmm…

The modern trousseau concept lends itself perfectly to a bridal shower party focused around friendship, craft and fine textiles. We imagined a group of creative women gathering together to build a collection of useful and beautiful things for their friend’s married life and we designed it in the tones of early spring in Northern California: gray fog and clouds, and dreamy pink blossoms. Serene, simple and handcrafted.

Ask guests to bring fine linens, vintage or new, and send them home with crafty supplies like embroidery hoops and thread.

We made sure to include things that every party needs, plenty of bubbly and amazing desserts! The dessert table included meringues, Mexican wedding cookies, and homemade bundt cakes. Find similar stemless champagne flutes at Napa Style.

Kate Holt of Flowerwild and Rebecca Stone of Duet Weddings teamed up to create this floral photo shoot for Martha Stewart Weddings. I love the modern bohemian twist they gave it (how cool is that urban greenhouse?). Photos by Jose Villa.

Loose bouquet of orange and copper cymbidium orchids, oncidium orchids and passion vine tendrils.

Bouquet of cattleya orchids and green anthurium, tied with hand-dyed silk ribbon.

Arm bouquet of maroon and chocolate oncidium orchids and white passion vine.

Cascade bouquet of green cymbidum orchids, pale green phalenopsis orchids, ladyslippers and vines.

Simple bouquet of snake’s head frittilaria, sword fern and wild grasses, tied with vintage trim.

Full bouquet of orange weber parrot tulips and foraged trumpet vine.

Joel Serrato caught the shoot on 8mm.

Few things are as special or dreamy to me as luscious flowers, especially when they’re arranged to look as though they could have grown that way in a secret garden. With flowers by Tracy Radeff, Kristi Amoroso designed this lovely French garden photo shoot, using lots of things from her own home, including her grandmother’s silver pieces and tea cart. Garden roses, quince, and little nests with robin eggs, decorate the table.

I have two faux weddings for you today, one for those autumn brides out there, and then one a little later for spring nuptials. This first shoot comes to us from Gavin Wade Photographers and stylist Gianna Sanfilippo from Chic Celebrations, who found inspiration in one of Snippet & Ink’s inspiration boards for a day-after shoot with bride and groom, Briana and Brandon. Fall leaves and cinderella pumpkins pair with barely pink roses for a look that’s both rustic and romantic…

I love the groom’s rich velvet bow tie and the bride’s heavy knit wrap – perfect for the season!
