Another sweet wedding from Abby Jiu today – this one with an adorable puppy, beautiful robes from Plum Pretty Sugar, and a donut food tuck…
Even Clyde, Casey and Danny’s French bulldog puppy, dressed up for the wedding! Bridesmaids wore J.Crew dresses in the same color, in the style of their choice.
Says Casey, “Danny’s family is 100% Irish, and his uncle preformed our ceremony in a kilt and all. He even learned special songs that he surprised us with on the bagpipes. Instead of throwing petals or lighting sparklers, we found several vintage tin bells. The guests rang them as we left the aisle as a sign of good luck.”
A donut food truck from Carpe Donut was a fun surprise for guests – and for the bride’s father!
Some details about the day from the lovely bride:
What inspired you when you were planning your wedding? Everything that we love and enjoy during our daily lives! Danny has a strong affection for Bruce Springsteen, so we had the band play a Springsteen set list during cocktail hour. Hints of Virginia Tech and Blacksburg were everywhere with the corn hole, table names and the personalized cake topper.
Do you have any budget tips for other brides? Ask yourself who will notice this detail – everyone, or just you? And ask yourself, do you love this idea? Having a photo booth was not originally part of the plan, but I couldn’t say no, and to make it work I took out a few items, such as the cheese platter at cocktail hour and the champagne toast. There is nothing wrong with just “Everyone raise your glass!”
What was your favorite moment or part of the day? Marrying my best friend. Seeing and living the party that we wanted to have. The band was the biggest hit of the evening and even surprised us by learning our first dance songs live. My dad’s speech. These are all moments that we still talk about and wish we could re-live.
What advice do you have for other brides? Don’t focus on so many items and touches that will distract from what the day is supposed to be – we only included items that we felt would add to the day and the party. Also, keeping the flow of the day going is key. If you can, hire a wedding planner – it will be worth every penny and more.
