It’s hard to express just how much pretty is happening in today’s wedding. The lush florals, to the soft color pallet, to the stunning classic bride in her drop veil. Not to mention a venue that left our jaws dropped. You’ll have to see for yourself!

Megan’s gorgeous, lush bouquet was filled with white peonies, jasmine vine, alabaster garden roses, white clone ranunculus, maidenhair fern and bush ivy. We love the soft, muted tones.
What advice do you have for other couples in the midst of planning a wedding? Hire a wedding planner! It was the best decision we made. We could have not done it without Jamie & Kate from Simply Chic Events! Also hire a videographer. You can relive your wedding day anytime you want!
Megan was perfectly bridal wearing a Carolina Herrera gown paired with a traditional drop veil by Peter Langner.
What was the best advice you received as a bride? Savor the day—it goes by so quickly. Take a few moments during your wedding day to take it all in.
We love how the blush bridesmaid’s dresses by Jenny Yoo can be styled so many different ways.
“St. Matthew’s is our home parish. We’ve always admired the beauty and historical significance of the cathedral. Both of our families are Catholic, so it was important to us to be married in the church.”
How did you go about planning your ceremony? We met with our priest several times before the wedding so he was there to answer any questions. He provided a template for planning our ceremony and music. They made it really easy by giving a couple of choices for each section and picking from there.
Your ceremony in three words. Religious, meaningful, joyful
Who officiated your ceremony? How did you choose him/her? Rev. Monsignor Jameson & Rev. Monsignor Nolan officiated our ceremony. Monsgr. Jameson officiates most of the weddings at St. Matthews. We wanted Leo’s childhood priest to also be involved so we asked him to be a con-celebrant.
What were your ceremony readings?
First Reading: Genesis 2:18-24
“The Lord is Compassionate Toward All His Works” Psalm 145:8-9, 10, 15, 17-18
Second Reading: Corinthians 12:31-13:8a
Gospel Reading: Matthew 5:13-16
What were your vows like? Writing our own vows was not a priority for us so we selected the traditional Catholic wedding vows. We figured we would already be nervous being in front of so many people and didn’t want to add another element of stress!
What was your favorite thing about your wedding ceremony? We loved walking down the aisle as husband and wife! It was the most amazing feeling seeing everyone you love cheering for us as we passed.
“Coming from an interior design background, I was really drawn to the romantic architectural elements that the Mellon possessed. It was the perfect backdrop to mix with our design aesthetic. It also was the perfect size to house all the people that we hold nearest and dearest. Jamie and Kate, from Simply Chic Events were the dream team make our vision a reality. I was in awe of the transformation of the historical building and seeing our vision come to life!”
How would you describe your reception? It was a blast! It was a perfect evening topped off with all of our favorite things—close family and friends, delicious food and drinks, and marvelous music!
What inspired you when you were planning your wedding? Fresh, bright greens, and classical yet ethereal. We wanted to bring the outdoors in and create the feeling of having an intimate dinner party al fresco. Trying to achieve that with 250 guests was tough, but creating the pergola over our long head table, the lush drapery from the columns and the heavy greenery were our go to solutions.
What was your wedding menu? Passed Hors d’Oeuvres: baby short rib sliders, paper chicken, crispy panko crab cake, tamari-glazed shrimp with bacon, mini mushroom burgers with brie, apple-glazed pork belly bites. First course: salad of avocado & hearts of palm, orange segments with lemon cilantro vinaigrette, served with pistachio hazelnut lavosh. Entree: filet of beef with pan-seared scallops, wild mushroom ragout, grilled pencil asparagus, herb gnocchi.
What type of cake or dessert did you serve? Yellow cake with whipped cream and fresh strawberries
Did you have a signature cocktail? Old Fashioned for the groom & St. Germain for the bride.
What was your favorite moment or part of the reception? The band! It was great to see everyone hop up on the dance floor, eager to get out there. We loved seeing everyone’s crazy dance moves!
Please tell us about any other special details or moments from your reception. I loved the muddling bar during the cocktail hour and the rolling grilled cheese cart that served “late night” snacks.
What was your first dance song? Father/daughter or mother/son dance?
First dance: “Thinking Out Loud” by Ed Sheeran
Father/daughter: “You’ve Got a Friend” by James Taylor
Mother/son: “Mandolin Rain” by Josh Kelley
If you had it to do over again, is there anything you would do differently? Nothing! It was the most perfect day.
