When Nayla and Nadim chose their venue, the rustic barn was only a back-up in case the July weather was uncooperative. Luckily for this couple and for us, this unexpected setting was beautiful for their rainy wedding day! Other details we’re loving include the hydrangea-filled barn where the ceremony was held and the bride’s incredible fashion-forward gown, which you won’t want to miss!
Tell us about your dress. I chose a tea-length couture gown by Karoline Lang. I loved the low back and the complex lace pattern on the full skirt. The ice blue and pale pink dresses my bridesmaids wore were also by Karoline Lang.
Did you include any other traditions in your wedding? I wore something old, new, borrowed and blue. My favorite piece was my grandmother’s vintage brooch, which I tucked into my hair!
“We had originally planned for an outdoor ceremony and reception, but the weather had other plans for our wedding day. Though we were disappointed that things didn’t go as we’d expected, our amazing vendors expertly moved our celebration inside and it was such a joyful day!”
“The unexpected storm and all the mess that came with it was actually my favorite thing about our wedding day,” says Nayla. “We arrived really late to the ceremony because of the stormy weather and our guests were moved inside to a small and beautiful barn, but we loved it because it gave the wedding a spontaneous, cozy and memorable twist!”
Your ceremony in three words. Emotional, unpredictable, cozy.
Why did you choose this location for your ceremony? We had planned to have an outdoor wedding in a green bucolic environment, but the rain changed our plans and we held the ceremony indoors. In order to bring the outdoors in, there were hay bales and mountains of blue, purple and white hydrangeas.
What was your ceremony music? It was an orchestra version of the Star Wars theme song, the groom’s favorite. Then my 9 year old nephew came in with his guitar and played the wedding march.
Who officiated your wedding ceremony? We had a civil ceremony a couple of days before, so the ceremony was a blessing officiated by a priest in French.
“We surprised Nadim’s mother with Gayta musicians from Asturias in Northern Spain during our reception! The musicians were hidden and once the ceremony ended, they came out and started playing. Nadim’s mother was so thrilled!”
Please tell us about any special details or moments from your reception. We had originally planned for our guests to discover various things in the gardens, but when rain moved the celebration indoors, we moved hats for the men, scarves for the women, buckets with Champagne, beer and lemonade, and even a bike for the kids inside!
How would you describe your reception? Fun, spontaneous and fresh.
What was most important to you on your wedding day? I’ve worked in catering and food setup for seven years, so I had specific idea of what I wanted and Leire from 20 Eventos was the perfect person to make my ideas become reality.
What was your wedding menu? Our wedding menu included local dishes like cherry gazpacho, foie gras rolls with mango, and locally-caught fish. We also had a server cutting slices of jamón ibérico, which our guests absolutely loved!
What type of cake or dessert did you serve? We had a dessert cart with two naked wedding cakes decorated with apples and flowers, and a lot of candies! We also had a dessert table with small desserts including carrot cake, brownies, and Russian tea cake.
What inspired you when you were planning your wedding? Greenery, horses and the outdoors.
Why did you choose this location for your reception? Machoenïa, apart from being exactly what we needed, had an indoor option in case of rain. We’re so glad we chose this venue!
What was your favorite moment or part of the reception? Everyone dancing non-stop!
