Hawaii, anyone? Sarah and Abe had a beautiful, breezy destination wedding on the island of Oahu, and their photos (courtesy JAC Photo) make me even more excited for our Hawaiian honeymoon (sorry – had to slip that in there; I’m so excited about it!). Also, you all know how much I love a clean green and white color palette. So why the destination wedding? “It was always a dream of ours to have a destination wedding,” says the bride. “It was a lot of work, but in the end it was well worth it. We had the most memorable day of our lives in a beautiful setting and we got to spend a week in Hawaii with 55 of our closest friends and family.”
Custom Converse shoes (with the wedding date stitched on the heel) seem like perfect casual footwear for a beach wedding, don’t you think?
To make sure their guests were comfortable, Sarah and Abe provided flip flops and paper parasols for the beach ceremony. Also, it might be hard to believe based on these pictures, but it was raining until just an hour before the ceremony!
Tropical cocktails added a pop of color to the otherwise neutral palette.
The wedding was outfitted with plenty of DIY love. Says the bride, “When you can’t find exactly what you like, you just have to make it yourself!” Her close friend designed the invitations as a wedding gift, and Sarah was able to use the artwork for her other stationery. For their centerpieces, the couple bought wood boxes at Ikea and stained them darker to get the color they wanted (they were also able to sell them to their florist after the wedding – smart thinking!). Sarah’s mother made the burlap table runners.
Don’t you want to hop on the next flight to Hawaii?
