I have some wintry inspiration boards for you tomorrow and Wednesday, but today I wanted to post one last gorgeous real wedding before everyone heads out for the holidays. Kristy and Chris were married at one of my favorite venues, the Marin Headlands Center for the Arts. Says Kristy:
“Chris and I met in San Francisco and although we had moved to New York by the time of our wedding, our closest friends were still there. The Headlands location was beautiful, unique, and abounding with personality. Also, the site fee goes to help the resident artists at the Center, which I really liked. For the event design, I was inspired by this little vintage Italian post card that I found… the colors were rich and beautiful and the image was romantic and luxurious, but rustic at the same time. Chris and I were engaged in Italy, so it was the perfect starting point.”
Beautiful flowers from Nancy Liu Chin (who I get to have lunch with today!) and beautiful photos from Greg Slick and Jesse Leake… enjoy!
Kristy designed all of the printed materials from the save the dates to the programs, which were printed on Crane paper by Soiree San Francisco. Of the day she says, “The weather was the best surprise… March in San Francisco could be anything, but it was sunny, warm and absolutely beautiful! We bussed everyone from the city and had the drivers take the scenic route, so our guests got a spectacular view of Golden Gate bridge and the city from the Marin Headlands on the way to the wedding.”
“My favorite moment was our actual ceremony. We had a close friend officiate and he performed a very nontraditional ceremony that incorporated carefully selected vows as well as a Celtic handfasting ceremony that Chris and I borrowed from an old celtic tradition. We wanted the ceremony to feel very personal and it also referenced Chris’s Scottish background.” Chris wore his family’s tartan and Kristy’s Venetian lace veil is a family heirloom.
Kristy’s advice? “We planned our wedding rather quickly… in 4 months. I actually loved the abbreviated planning time line as we focused on the big things and made decisions quickly. I just say try to relax and enjoy the day. Having your closest friends and family in one room on one of the biggest days of your life is wonderful… try to take it in and have fun.”
