A lovely Tennessee wedding for your Thursday…
Sharon shares a bit about why they chose McConnell House for the reception: “It was actually the original jail in Franklin! The building is equipped with 6 fireplaces, hardwood floors, gorgeous brick walls and is styled beautifully. It was the perfect backdrop for Southern elegance.”
Why did you choose this location for your wedding? For the ceremony, we wanted a location that had a traditional/spiritual element but were conflicted because we live in the South and most churches require you be a member and/or use their dialogue. We finally found Kings’ Chapel, a non-affiliated chapel in the middle of a residential development. Evidently, the builders found an old church falling apart when they were planning the neighborhood. Rather than knocking it down, they restored it to its original character. We immediately fell in love with the exposed beams and dark pews. The fact that it was intimate made it even better, because our wedding consisted of fewer than 90 guests.
What was your favorite moment or part of the day? Gaw… this is a hard one. Speeches. Josh’s three brothers spoke, and one even played the guitar and sang a song he wrote about our love. My sister is an emotional brick and sobbed throughout the entire speech, which touched everyone. My best friend told stories of our childhood. Our fathers’ toasts brought everyone to tears. Also, the whole ceremony – it was so us, the words were so dear, The Beatles on strings that played as we entered and exited. It was all perfect.
What advice do you have for other brides? Do your first look before the ceremony, and do it with only you two and the photographer. Everything speeds by afterwards, so it’s nice to have alone time with your man to share the magic of your day.
