I hope everyone had a delicious Thanksgiving! Here’s another feast for you: Nadine and Joe’s wedding celebration. (By the way, isn’t Nadine’s hair pin beautiful? It belonged to her grandmother.)

Nadine’s best friend officiated the ceremony.

I asked Nadine what inspired them in their planning. She says, “The owners of Rock Hall led us to Fire Roasted Catering, a company committed to seasonal and local food, all cooked over an open fire! Joe owns two restaurants and I’m enthusiastic about food in general, so we were super-excited that a company like Fire Roasted Catering even existed. And when we started talking about a pig roast…everything else started to fall into place.”

Nadine describes the rustic centerpieces: “On the day of the wedding, Corrie from Petal Design Studio tied everything together in the most amazing way. She really understood our vision: centerpieces with jewel tone flowers, fruit and herbs. The nuts and nut crackers on the tables. Wine in buckets. Everything was beautiful and approachable, exactly what we wanted.”

Why did you choose this location for your wedding?  When Joe and I started planning our wedding, we wanted a celebration that reminded us of the dinners we had growing up – outdoors, long tables, close family and friends, delicious food, lots of wine and laughter. The Rock Hall Inn was the perfect setting. It was a place that Joe and I had visited about three years earlier during a weekend trip and we fell in love with the area. We were also able to host both of our immediate families at Rock Hall, so it became a mini-vacation for all of us.

What was your favorite moment or part of the day?  Favorite things about our wedding day – our nieces walking down the aisle, our nephew’s speech and toast, my best friend who officiated the wedding, the smell of firewood that will forever remind me of that wedding morning, and Carvel Cake.

What was the best advice you received as a bride?  This goes for wedding planning, but I also think for life in general. From my dear friend Danielle: Stop and enjoy the little things, the small moments. A wedding is a pretty big event in one’s life, with lots of anticipation and expectations from everyone involved, all leading up to one day. Throughout the process there were all of these really wonderful small moments that I’ll remember so much more than all of the hoopla.

What advice do you have for other brides?  Listen to your own voice. Weddings come with a lot of well-intentioned opinions, and while they most certainly are helpful, I believe that you’ll be most happy when you follow your own heart. So wear the dress you want to wear, have the kind of ceremony that is important and meaningful to you, uphold those traditions or don’t.

Do you have any budget tips for other brides?  Prioritize what is most important to you and dedicate more money in those areas. Also, prepare for the unexpected costs, especially if you’re planning yourself and negotiating with vendors. Getting up to speed with the way “weddings work” was definitely a learning curve for us.

“Approachable”–what a lovely word to help you plan a wedding. I dig the dahlias, and not to mention the plaid-shirted stud doing all the cooking. How fun!

In love with the mix of prettiness and rustic touches. The cut out on her dress is fabulous! I love that firewood reminds the bride of her wedding day. I think things that sweet never go away :)

Simple, casual, no wedding etiquette mostly when it comes about the sober, formal dress code…each one lives the wedding day in a different manner. I can onyl say congrats!!
