“We felt the love there. It was a magical place. We had seen a bunch of other locations and this was the last one on our list. Nothing was speaking to us. Then when we got to this private estate, we knew right away. It just felt right.”
Your ceremony in three words. Love, kinship, fun
How did you go about planning your ceremony? We had a vision and our amazing wedding planner brought that to life!
Event Planning & Design by LMM events.
Did you include any traditions in your ceremony? Yes, we had a huppah that friends and family stood under, we stepped on and broke a glass, we had bridesmaids, bridesmen, flower girls and our daughter was our Maid of Honor!
What were your ceremony readings? Cecil officiated, Jan spoke and we each read our vows to each other.
What were your vows like? Amy and I wrote our own vows.
What was your ceremony music? We put together a playlist of songs that we loved and thought would be great for each group that walked down the aisle. Amy and I were each escorted down the aisle, she by her brother and I by a close friend we call family. We walked down the isle to the song “Same Love” by Macklemore
What was your favorite thing about your wedding ceremony? The whole thing was amazing! It was heartfelt, filled with joy, warmth and laughter and tears.
“Each thing was better than the next—the first dance, the family dance, then everyone dancing together! The toasts were incredible, the cake cutting then dancing more. Served late night food and a dessert bar and had a late night lounge with an espresso bar—it was all so amazing!”
How would you describe your reception? Best party ever! The food was simply exquisite. The band—so fun. Everyone danced non-stop until the end!
Did you have a signature cocktail? Yes! So good—a pretty pink cocktail called Aperol Fizz served in a coupe glass with a rose petal floating on top.
What inspired you when you were planning your wedding? We are always inspired to bring our friends and family together. We have waited for 15 years to have our big wedding. When the ruling passed August of 2013, we decided that we would finally have our wedding—now that it was legal for everyone in California to get married.
What was your wedding menu? Amuse Busch of Caviar on a Corn Custard // Appetizer: Shrimp with Beet-in-Beets, Chicharron and Pea Coulis // Entree: Beef Tenderloin with a Smoked Onion Soubis and a Tomato Confit and Arugula—all was delicious!
