I don’t want to wish away the beautiful fall weather, but I thought a little Miami getaway might be nice for the weekend. Inspired by mojitos, both in color and in flavor, I imagine a modern glamorous wedding, full of orchids, large tropical leaves, and diaphanous white fabrics. Oh, and a cigar roller for your guests, of course.

I love the elegance and movement in this photo by Elizabeth Messina, not to mention the bluish slate gray color. So it served as the inspiration for today’s wedding board! The palette is muted and cool, and the bird motif lends a whimsical element.

It is entirely possible to have an orange autumn wedding without a single pumpkin – actually, this palette of wheat gold, cameo pink, tangelo orange and cream would work equally well in spring and summer, but autumn is what I had in mind when making this inspiration board. These colors would let you use dahlias for fall, roses in summer, and poppies in spring. There is something eternally romantic about a cameo brooch (many of which can also be worn as pendants). Paired with a whimsical cake (decorated with crepe paper flowers!) and a dress with lace applique details, this is a wedding board that manages to be sweetly romantic without being overly saccharine or fussy.
Mood: soft, warm autumn romance
Palette: cameo, tangelo, gold, cream

Though I love green and white weddings, and I make plenty of green and white inspiration boards, I’m not sure I’ve ever showcased emerald green. And I don’t know why – it’s such a rich color, with so much depth, and I especially love it here, paired with pale green-tinted aqua blue. Perfect for a whimsical garden wedding, with a touch of vintage details.
Mood: whimsical garden romance, with a vintage twist
