Someone once said to me that vineyard weddings are a cliché. My answer to that would be, they’re a cliché the way roses are a cliché, and traditional vows, and wearing white, and having a Champagne toast. I certainly appreciate deviating from things just because that’s they way they’ve always been done, but there is also something to be said for tradition and classic style. If you want something classic, don’t avoid it just because it has been done before, because the truth is, even if you get married while skydiving or wearing a plaid wedding dress, you and your fiancé/e are the most unique thing about your wedding. I say, do what you want!

And what I wanted to do was make a classic vineyard wedding board today, full of grapes straight off the vine, and herbal details such as a lavender motif on the invitations and rosemary in the boutonnieres.

Mood: classic vineyard elegance
Palette: green, white

Hi friends! Sorry for the late post today – I am finally completely moved! Today’s wedding board was inspired by the incredible tent in the top corner, both for color and for the feel of it. I don’t know that a destination wedding would be for me, but either way it’s nice to have a little getaway in the middle of the week.

Mood: warm, exotic
Palette: orange, turquoise, lime green, sand

(The pun was just too obvious to resist!) It’s not here yet, but autumn is on its way… There is something moody in the look of this wedding board, which I think works because autumn is sort of moody. The light changes, the colors change, and the temperatures fluctuate. For this wedding, I imagine late afternoon light, or early evening lit by firelight. I also wanted to incorporate the colors you would find in pears – nothing as bright or saturated as you would find in apples, but still varied. The kraft paper invitation is perfect too, since both its color and texture are reminiscent of the skin of Bosc pears. And if you’re look for the perfect favor for your guests, try these paper-wrapped pears.

Mood: elegant harvest
Palette: muted natural shades

I think this is one of those color palettes that can really capture the personalities of the couple getting married, and it would work well in a number of venues: a stark urban loft, on the beach, in a summer garden. Aqua and poppy red might be too bold for some, but that’s the fun of colors – there really is something for every style and taste!

Mood: bold, playful
Palette: aqua, poppy red, white

Here is the second inspiration board that I made a few months ago for Minted.com. I just adore the illustration that Rene Gruau did for Christian Dior, and really loved making this wedding board based around it.

Mood: feminine, modern
Palette: shades of gray, blush pink, orange, peach
