Today’s board was inspired by that beautiful yellowed tint that old papers take on, or the sepia tones of old photographs. I imagine a wedding with lots of warm filtered light, faded yellows, and a slightly vintage feel. Not vintage, but at least a sense of it. And I am absolutely in love with that dress.

Mood: warm, light
Palette: faded yellows, cream, sun-bleached white, sepia

The initial inspiration for this board was the incredible turquoise chandelier – how amazing would it be to have several of those adorning your reception space? It is opulent, yet still somewhat modern, which is what I tried to do with this board. The combinations of turquoise and black, orchids and damask, I think make for an interesting look that is dramatic and elegant.

Mood: opulent, modern
Palette: turquoise, black, white

I love an all white canvas filled with pops of bright, bold colors. Here, a classic white room is embellished with fuchsia and orange flowers and details, including bridesmaids in a variety of dresses and groomsmen in orange gingham shirts. I imagine this wedding as a sweet, semi-formal luncheon following a quaint church ceremony, or maybe in the garden outside of the reception venue.

Mood: sweet, bold
Palette: fuchsia, orange, white

Erica emailed me with a problem. She really wants to use pool blue as a color for her November wedding, but was having trouble making it work for fall. She wants her wedding to be playful, but still elegant and formal, and she loves hot air balloons and polka dots. To pull all of this together, I added tangerine orange and chocolate brown to the pool blue, making a palette that fits well with a fall wedding. How have you made off-season colors work for your wedding?

Mood: playfully elegant
Palette: pool blue, chocolate brown, tangerine

With this wedding board, I tried to blend classic elegance with a touch of modern minimalism. Instead of elaborate floral centerpieces, simple potted miniature evergreens line banquet tables. Classic white linen napkins are monogrammed with bold black thread. Envelopes are addressed with simple calligraphy. This would be an excellent wedding in which to ask your bridesmaids to wear a black evening dress of their choosing.

Mood: elegant, modern twist
Palette: black, white, a touch of green
