Today I have another detail-focused feature, this time a rehearsal dinner from Ritzy Bee Events and photographer Kate Headley. How much do you love the monogrammed tote bags for preppy vase alternatives? Says Maria Cooke, the lovely lady behind Ritzy Bee:
The couple wanted to give their out-of-town guests a beautiful Washington D.C. experience, and with the Decatur House literally sitting in the backyard of the White House, it was the perfect venue for guests to have a sense of place in our nation’s Capitol. They also wanted to create an experience for their guests that would differ from their more formal wedding the following evening. Having a cocktail style reception allowed guests to relax and mingle with one another, creating a vibe of casual elegance with delicious sips and bites. We were completely inspired by the beautiful outside brick courtyard and created a garden meets marketplace feel with the farm-to-table food selections, decor and floral elements and details.
Guests loved the fix-it-yourself “Mix + Muddle” mojito bar – such a fun idea!
Potted herbs, bud vases and galvanized buckets accented cocktail tables and buffets. Tote bags of various sizes were filled with hydrangeas, tulips, and peonies – the couple didn’t want the flowers to go to waste, and handing off tote bags to guests as they headed home was a fun way to give them away.
The string quartet was placed in the center of everything instead of in the corner, creating a fun focal point for the party.

Wow! I can’t believe this is only the rehearsal dinner. The wedding must have been gorgeous.
Great idea with the flower tote bags!!! It would be a waste for those flowers if they weren’t shared with the guests!
How beautiful! If that was just rehearsal, I can’t even imagine how gorgeous the wedding was!!
Anyone wants to make something similar to the table chalkboard should look at this nifty idea!
