Whenever Calder Clark Design and A Bryan Photo work together, you know the results are going to be nothing short of stunning – sophisticated design and beautiful details plus photos that are at once timeless and modern. And Francie and Matt’s Charleston wedding is no exception…

Francie carried a romantic bouquet of astilbe, freesia, roses and sweetpeas, tied with a blue and green brocade ribbon that hinted at the reception’s cheery color palette. Bridesmaids wore teal blue shantung dresses by Coren Moore.

The ceremony took place at the Francie’s family church, St. Mary’s Catholic Church in downtown Charleston, and Francie wore a family heirloom lace veil (accenting her simple Carolina Herrera gown perfectly).

Guests were greeted at Hibernian Hall by the Burke High School Band (the High Stepping Bulldogs), led by a friend of the bride’s family.

As guests arrived at the reception, waiters (in color coordinated ties and aprons) passed around Arnold Palmers spiked with Firefly Sweet Tea Vodka.

Classic blue and white china vases and containers balanced bright apple green linens and accents. Flowers included Queen Anne’s lace, ranunculus, roses, sweet peas, thistle, tulips, tweedia, viburnum, wax flower and hellebores. Guests went home with local Anson Mills grits and a family recipe for shrimp and grits.

Jim Smeal created three cakes for the couple: one four tier cake in the center of the table, with two smaller cakes on either side of it. Each cake was a different flavor: Grand Marnier-infused sponge cake with chocolate ganache; lemon spongecake with lemon zest, lemon curd, and fresh macerated blueberries; and the classic KeyLime. The dessert table also included miniature blueberry and pistachio tartelettes.

A Bryan Photo set up a vintage Polaroid “photo booth,” complete with silly disguises and even a life-sized cardboard cutout of the couple so that everyone could have a photo with the bride and groom, even when they weren’t nearby. Photos were pinned to fabric-covered corkboards so guests could pick them up before heading home.

After dancing the night away to Bobby and the Aristocrats (plus a performance by Francie’s teenage brother), guests sent the newlyweds off on their honeymoon with kazoos.

her wedding dress and heirloom veil are beautiful! it makes me wish my grandmother or mother had their veil safely kept for me to wear on my wedding day. I’ll just have to create my own heirlooms! xo

The different patterns all tied together through a common color story made for a really interesting visual element.

The bridesmaids dresses are monterey shantung by Coren Moore from Bella Bridesmaid Charleston. I think it says Jenny Yoo but that is incorrect! Thanks!
