Isn’t Charleston one of the most romantic cities? Heather Forsythe sent over these photos from Jacqueline and Brian’s lovely April wedding, and it looks like such a lovely and timeless event. Though the couple doesn’t live in Charleston, it was the perfect choice for their wedding. Says Jacqueline, “My mother is from Charleston, and I spent just as much time growing up down there as in Greenville, South Carolina. Brian lived in Charleston for a year for Naval submarine training, and we had started dating while he was living in Charleston, so the city seemed like a perfect backdrop to share our wedding with friends and family.”

The groom and groomsmen wore white dinner jackets as a nod to Jacqueline’s late grandfather.

There is a photo of Jacqueline’s father on his wedding day, wearing Groucho Marx glasses with his groomsmen. Jacqueline and her sister grew up making fun of this photo, so when they were taking family portraits, her sister surprised them each with the funny glasses. Their father was speechless and loved the surprise!

Jacqueline and Brian chose two types of cake, red velvet and dark chocolate with raspberry and white chocolate mousse filling.

From Jacqueline: “I learned early on in wedding planning to prioritize and trust your vendors. I shared with my florist just a color scheme and three flowers that I did not want to see on my wedding day. I told her I wanted flowers that grew in Charleston gardens in the spring, and other than that, she could do what she wanted. It was like Christmas when I arrived at the house to get ready. It was perfect!”

Jacqueline’s family is Scottish, and she wanted to incorporate some of her family history into the wedding, so she wore her family’s hunting tartan during the reception. Her bouquet was also wrapped in a tartan ribbon.

After the reception, Brian and Jacqueline left in a pedi-cab. Says Jacqueline, “Brian will say that this was his favorite part of the day. Our driver took us all around historic Charleston, and it gave Brian and me some time to immediately go over the night.”
