In the past, I’ve mentioned that I have mixed feelings about the color red (which you’ll probably find amusing when you see some of my own wedding details) – sometimes I think it’s overly dramatic and awful, while other times I love love love it. Today, in this context, I love it. Inspired entirely by that cute skirt and floral sweater found via This is Glamorous, I wanted to create something that was a mix of vintage charm and modern elegance. I imagined a hometown wedding, quite possibly with the reception held at the bride’s childhood home (white picket fence and all!). A vintage look for the bride (satin v-back dress, feather head piece, pearls) jazzed up with red accessories and red lipstick, is the perfect fit at this wedding. Chintzy floral patterns can be sweet when used sparingly (perhaps as envelope liners or to decorate elements of the dessert table).

i think red is such a classic color that could be very retro and girly at the same time. a simple dress with a color-popping lipstick is a favorite of mine.
being south asian, red is kind of integral to our wedding culture, but I agree with you that sometimes it can be an overbearing colour choice. I think it works here because you’ve mixed it with so many shades of white.
I love this board! It’s very romantic…and I think that’s red’s best quality. But then, all of your boards are amazing!!
The corsage rose shoes are amazing!! I want them!
LOVE. So classic.
I’m in LOVE.
I’m also a little mixed when it comes to red but this may have just convinced me otherwise. The red lipstick on the vintage bride shot by the Nichols is stunning. Couldn’t have achieved that with any other colors.

I’m totally back into red these days. After years of orange, red is seeming more appealing. I like your mood board!

I love vintage red rose print: I am entirely smitten with this board, and I’m not much of a red person either! (Which is funny, considering my outfit choice on my website)
red makes everything so vibrant!
mmyes there is a lot of awesome going on here.
this board is nothing but fabulous. the shoes are dreamy!
so happy that sweet little jumper inspired something so lovely! especially smitten with the centerpiece with peonies and vines and princess cake…
{p.s.} happy, happy new year, kathryn! & also, warmest congratulations! xoxo
i love the picket fence in the board! such a cute touch!
A red rose and pearl bouquet would look gorgeous too!
Love the shoes. Must have them now! Everything is beautiful and is not an overwhelming use of red, which can be overdone.
I’m definitely a red lover and this palette is no exception! I’m in love! thanks for the eye candy!
Retro Chic! I love it!
