Sharon & Adam | Tuscan-Inspired Wedding with Purple Details

When Kate Holt launched the new Flowerwild website, I immediately gravitated toward the stunning florals she created for Sharon and Adam’s wedding – purple at its very best. You may have seen a few of the details in a recent issue of Brides magazine, and today I get to share even more of the day with you! Photos by the ever-talented Gia Canali.

Bridesmaids wore floor-length lavender chiffon dresses from J.Crew. Bouquets included purple clematis, passion vine, and garden roses.

Says Sharon: “Kate [of Flowerwild] transformed the space to make it even lovelier that it usually is. In addition to the table centerpieces, she decorated the mantel of the fireplace with one large spectacular floral arrangement and a loose flowing garland with votives and hurricanes. She also decorated the three iron chandeliers with hanging flowers and decorated the cake table with votives and pots of lavender. Lastly, there was a stunning dahlia garland for the back of the bride’s and groom’s chairs.”

The wedding cake came in two flavors: lemon sponge cake with fresh blueberry filling (served with raspberry sorbet) and chocolate sponge cake with milk chocolate mousse filling and buttercream frosting (served with mint chocolate chip gelato).

The groom is in the film industry, which inspired the Best Man to give an extra special toast. The bride describes the moment: “As part of his toast, the Best Man brought out the family owned vintage 16mm Bolex camera and elicited support from several of the guests, who are also in the television/movie industry. They created an on set feel by yelling out things related to making movies (such as “Last looks!,” “Action!,” etc.) and filmed Adam and me sharing a kiss among of our family and friends at the reception. We now have this film sequence framed in our home.”

Why did you choose this location for your wedding?  We took one look online and one look in person, and instantly knew there could be no place more magical, peaceful, and fitting for the small intimate wedding of our dreams. In particular, the abundant lavender bushes and eucalyptus trees lining the entry drive were the selling point!

What inspired you when you were planning your wedding?  The spectacular garden and landscaping at San Ysidro Ranch provided endless inspiration! It has a fantastic “European Country” vibe (English/French garden, with some Tuscan accents), and it felt so romantic to us. Our color palette was based on the lavender and eucalyptus at the venue, and then we added in touches of cream and pink. It was important to us to use colors that were already present at the venue.

Did you include any traditions in your wedding?  In keeping with the Italian tradition, we gave each guest a sugar cone (designed and made by a very talented family friend), which was filled with five Jordan almonds and tied up in tulle. There was a traditional Italian poem attached, which read: “Five sugared almonds for each guest to eat / To remind us that life is both bitter and sweet / Five wishes for the new husband and wife / Health, wealth, happiness, children, and a long life.”
