Liz & Dez | Whimsical Garden Wedding at Solage Calistoga

Solage Calistoga seamlessly blends the feel of a romantic rustic garden with modern wine country elegance, making it a perfect backdrop for Liz and Dez’s wedding celebration. LVL Events brought the bride’s vision for a magical evening to life, and Esther Sun was behind the camera to capture it all…

Liz’s romantic bouquet was full of lush garden roses, dahlias, chocolate cosmos, accented with trailing vines.

The littlest bridal attendants wore classic seersucker suits. Flower girls and bridesmaids alike donned coral pink dresses.

What inspired you while you were planning your wedding?  I think that weddings are magical nights so I really wanted the affair to be gorgeous and elegant but with a touch of whimsy. I included things like loose floral arrangements with trailing vines and loads of taper candles which cast a warm twinkling glow. I was inspired by the romantic garden parties in the 1920s and the over all esthetic of Sophia Coppola movies. I love a lot of tone on tone, muted colors and nostalgic elements incorporated in a modern way. One of my favorite details was the champagne tower with coupe glasses.

What was your favorite moment or part of your wedding day?  I loved so many moments of the wedding but one that turned out to be particularly special was our first dance. My husband really doesn’t like dancing and the idea of a first dance with all eyes on him freaked him out. We selected a song that we both love to sing along with in the car, a blue grass tune called Wagon Wheel and invited all the guests to join in after the first verse. We had a little moment in the spotlight but then got to share our favorite song with all of our loved ones dancing along too. It was just a purely happy moment.

What is the best advice you were given as a bride?  The best advice I was given as a bride was to put your money into the three things that matter most to you. For me that was the food, the flowers and the photos. The big day goes by so fast, make sure you have killer pics so you can relive it whenever you want!

What advice would you give to couples planning now?  I would tell anyone who is getting married to stretch out the event. Make your wedding a whole weekend of festivities instead of just one night. There will probably be no other time in your life when you get to throw a huge party with all of your friends and family from across the country in one place. Take advantage of it! We had a big welcome dinner on the Friday before the wedding, and a brunch on Sunday after the wedding. I didn’t have a chance to talk to everyone at the wedding so it was great to have the other events to spend quality time with every guest.
