Real Wedding: Kayan & James
Another destination for you today! Kayan and James and 60 of their closest family and friends traveled to Croatia for a wedding on the Adriatic coast…
Kayan used what she calls “gems from the island” to dress up the day, things like fresh lavender for the bouquets and rocks from the beach for place cards.
And if you have about six minutes, a lovely video from Deneemotion…
Kayan shared some of the details about the day…
Why did you choose this location for your wedding? Anyone who’s ever been to Hvar will know why – it’s the perfect juxtaposition of idyllic paradise meets buzzing nightlife.
What inspired you when you were planning your wedding? We wanted to create three very distinct experiences for our guests over the course of the wedding weekend. So we held our ceremony, reception, and farewell brunch on three different islands along the Adriatic coast. Each island conjured up the ideal backdrop and atmosphere that we were hoping for.
What was your favorite moment or part of the day? I knew I was going to feel a lot of things on the big day but I never expected to have so much FUN. The train of my wedding dress is still black from all the dance floor mayhem and I’m not the least bit bothered – it’s my trophy to remind me of the fun I had that night with everyone I love in this world.
Did you include any traditions in your wedding? James’s aunt gifted me with a beautiful Korean hanbok so I was lucky enough to wear not one but two beautiful dresses on our wedding day.
What was the best advice you received as a bride? My mom always said it’s not about having a perfect wedding, but an amazing marriage that counts.
