Kentucky Derby Wedding Ideas | Faux Wedding

The Kentucky Derby is still a few days away, but we couldn’t wait any longer to share this romantic inspired shoot with you! Mint juleps, fancy hats, roses for days… what a perfect place to draw inspiration from. Says Krista from Blue Eyed Yonder, “Inspired by the beautiful, iconic imagery of the Kentucky Derby, this Run for the Roses look blends classic Derby elements with a soft, romantic mood and a color palette of creamy blush, textured neutrals, and a pop of rich, emerald green.”

Serenbe Stables provided the perfect backdrop for this equestrian themed wedding shoot.

Emerald green accents, including this floor-length pleated bridesmaid dress, added richness to the otherwise color palette of soft blush and cream.

For dinner, Allison Leuker, head chef at Sun In My Belly, created a menu of benne seed biscuits with country ham and grain mustard, pickled shrimp in cucumber cups, cheese straws with bourbon pecan crust, and rosemary and garlic crusted lamb chops with golden beet grits, pan roasted okra, and caper berry remoulade. And signature mint juleps of course!

Vintage silver trophy cups were the perfect choice for a Derby-themed centerpiece!

As an ode to the infamous large hats of the Kentucky Derby, Jessica Gallo of Fine and Fleurie created a hand-crafted statement bridal hairpiece from blush-colored silk.

Inspired by the tradition of the winner’s blanket given out each year, floral designer Lindsay Coletta created a luxurious blanket of over 1,000 blush roses.

A big thanks to Ali Harper for sharing these gorgeous photos! Now we’re all ready for this year’s Kentucky Derby – and hopefully we’ve inspired some Derby weddings, too!
