Lara & Oliver | Spring Engagement Photos in Oxford, England
There is nothing I love more than opening an email from a Snippet & Ink reader, and finding stunning photos like these – it makes my week! Lara and Oliver were just married in June, but this spring they met up with photographer Aneta Mak in Oxford, England, to take these beautiful engagement shots.
Says Lara: For our engagement photos, we walked along cobblestone streets, climbed under electric fences to roam around grand pastures, and strolled alongside punters in the river. We happened to find a beautiful cherry blossom tree, and took advantage of the petals covering the plush grass.
Lara tells a little about their story: I am from the New York and worked for Anthropologie for eight years, traveling to visually direct store openings, on the road three weeks a month for four years. I was living in hotels and airports, and one day I literally began to dream of England – I was dreaming in a British accent! I knew it was time to make a massive change, and create my version of the European semester abroad to experience culture across the pond. This was very unlike me – friends thought it was truly our of character – but as they say, fortune favors the bold. After just four days in London, I was introduced to my (now) husband!
Congratulations Lara and Oliver! Thank you so much for sharing your engagement shoot with us – we can’t wait to see the wedding photos! Oh, and check out Lara’s website for some of her lovely design work.

Love it! I met my own husband while studying in grad school at Oxford, and I love these shots. They remind me of our own time there and of all the best romantic qualities of the city. Congrats to the lovely couple.
Oh wow! These are lovely. And she’s living my dream! I wish I were so bold. I need to learn from her example!

I love these! So dreamy and pretty. The one with them walking away in the field makes me smile. The calligraphy is blowing my mind too! Tanks for sharing.
Oh my goodness. I can’t even begin to pick my favorite shot…they are all so beautiful! What lovely photos to have and that cherry tree is stunning!
No way….that story is too good, right down to the British accent dream!!!
so cute! and I love that red dress
That dress is a-w-e-s-o-m-e.
That red dress is great. Such a perfect pop of color!
Perhaps fortune does favor the bold. After I took a bold birthday wish seriously, pick a new state for my 25th birthday and live there, I did– and found the love of my life there. It was a similar itch, you just had to do it. Awesome that others answered the call as well.
:-)
..as I always say, “It’s one (story) for the grandkids”
Oxford looks beautiful and the pictures are lovely! The red dress really pops in the pictures! Just beautiful! Thanks for sharing!
These are breathtakingly gorgeous!!! PS I heart Anthro!
