Real Wedding: Stef & Jonnie

Remember the groom from this wedding? Well he and his brother also happen to be awesome photographers, and they sent over this sweet DIY wedding (that also happens to be budget-friendly). Wait til you get to the part where they served In-N-Out for dinner…

Stef found her J.Crew dress for half the retail price on a used wedding dress website, and wore shoes that she purchased at Ross for $8. Jonnie wore a suit from Express. The morning of the wedding, he borrowed a tie from his soon-to-be brother-in-law.

How beautiful is this ceremony under a canopy of trees?! Stef loves orchids, and wanted to incorporate them into bouquets and boutonnieres. She says, “Since we were on a budget, each bouquet only contained two orchids, and the rest were seasonal flowers in our color scheme.” The bride and her bridesmaids each wore an orchid in their hair.

In lieu of a slideshow, the couple made a photo clothesline.

Jonnie’s favorite game is Scrabble, so Stef made “place cards” for each of the attendants using Scrabble letters that she found on eBay. They also placed board games at every table for guests to play. (Check out their Scrabble save-the-date!)

The cake – a four-tiered amaretto cake, decorated with Scrabble letters – was made by a friend. She also made a chocolate groom’s cake with coffee frosting.

How to feed 150 guests on a budget? “Appetizers came from Costco – fruit and veggie trays and a hummus spread,” says Stef. “For dinner we wanted to keep it simple and affordable and were blessed enough to get In-N-Out to cater. Being from Florida and having half the guests from out of state, In-N-Out was a big hit!”
