After months of dress fittings, most brides I work with want honeymoon clothes that simply behave: nothing to hitch up, shoes that survive cobblestones, layers for a freezing restaurant. The twenty outfits below cover beach resorts, coastal towns, European cities, mountain lodges and the travel days in between. Each one is complete, from shoes to bag, and I’ve written in what packs well, what creases and what to watch for. There are bridal whites, soft florals, neutrals and a few darker evening colours, and most pieces repeat across several looks, so the suitcase stays sensible.

Pack Around Your Shoes, Not Your Dresses
Shoes take the most room and cause the most pain, so I plan a honeymoon case backwards from them. Three pairs cover almost any trip: flat sandals or sneakers for walking, one dressier sandal or slingback for evenings, and whatever the destination demands, such as boots for a mountain stay or water shoes for rocky beaches.
Once the shoes are fixed, pick two or three colours that go with all of them and build outfits only from those. A rough count that works for a week:
- One travel outfit, worn there and back.
- Four or five day looks, mixed from two bottoms, three tops and one or two dresses.
- Two or three evening looks, sharing the same bag and evening shoes.
- Two swimsuits, so one can dry.
- One warm layer that goes with everything, usually a fine cardigan or soft blazer.
Wear new sandals at home for a week before the trip. Honeymoons involve far more walking than people expect, and blisters on day two spoil a lot of evenings.
1. White Linen Honeymoon Outfit

Linen is the coolest fabric you can pack and also the one that creases fastest, so accept the soft rumple or plan for it. A square-neck linen top with high-waisted wide-leg trousers looks pulled together; tuck the top or choose a cropped one to show your waist. Flat tan leather sandals, a woven bag, slim gold hoops and big sunglasses suit resort paths and waterfront lunches, and an unbuttoned linen shirt adds coverage. Petite brides do well with a high rise and full length; taller ones can go fuller, palazzo style. Hang the pieces in the bathroom while you shower on the first night and the steam does most of the work.
2. Floral Maxi Honeymoon Outfit

A flowing floral maxi dress moves in the breeze and needs almost no styling. Look for adjustable straps, smocking or a wrap waist, which give room after big dinners. Low block-heel sandals cope with stone paths better than stilettos, and a small raffia bag, pearl drops and a light shawl complete it. Pastels feel soft; bold tropical prints suit an island. One tip from photo shoots: small prints read clearly on camera, while very large florals can look blurry in full-length shots. Hair in a loose bun or soft waves.
3. Satin Slip Dress Honeymoon Outfit

Slip dresses take almost no space, which makes them the obvious evening piece. Champagne, ivory, blush, sage and deep blue all work; choose the one closest to the tone that flatters your face. Midi is easier to walk in than a floor-length hem. Strappy metallic sandals, a structured mini bag and simple earrings, plus a light blazer or fine knit for cold air conditioning. If the classic cut feels exposed, wider straps or a draped neckline help, and a lined dress hangs better. Satin water-marks and shows sweat, so I’d pick a matte or heavier satin for humid places, and smooth, line-free underwear.
4. Crochet Skirt Set Honeymoon Outfit

Crochet adds texture to a neutral wardrobe, and a matching set doubles as two separates. A lined halter or short-sleeve top with a midi skirt is the easiest combination. Check the lining before you buy; unlined crochet is see-through in strong sun and in flash photos. Flat nude or tan sandals keep it relaxed, with a small woven bag, sculptural gold earrings and a bracelet. Cream feels bridal; coral, aqua or butter yellow feel holiday. Crochet stretches when hung, so fold it in the suitcase and in the hotel drawer.
5. Off Shoulder Midi Honeymoon Outfit

Off-the-shoulder necklines stay put only if there’s elastic or boning holding them, and that’s the first thing I check. Breathable cotton, a linen blend or poplin with a fitted waist and a flared skirt are cool and easy. Espadrille wedges or low block heels depending on the ground, plus a small shoulder bag, a fine necklace and statement earrings. White is the newlywed choice; powder blue, pink and lemon are just as pretty. Pack a cropped cardigan for sea breezes. Wear a strapless bra that you’ve already tested for a whole day, not a new one.
6. Sarong Skirt Honeymoon Outfit

A printed sarong skirt looks dressed-up as soon as you pair it with a fitted top. Wear it high-waisted and ankle-length with a white bandeau, a square-neck tank or a bodysuit, so the waist shows. Low mules, a colourful mini bag, layered gold necklaces and a smooth low bun finish it. Make sure the wrap overlaps enough to sit and walk without flashing a leg to the top of the thigh; a hidden snap at the waist solves most problems. Tropical prints for the beach, watercolour prints for a more modern feel. Sunset dinners are its natural setting.
7. White Swimsuit And Kaftan Honeymoon Outfit

Plenty of white swimsuits go see-through when wet, so before you pack one, test it in the shower at home. A fully lined white one-piece swimsuit with secure straps and a comfortable neckline is the base; throw an ankle-length kaftan, printed or semi-sheer woven, on top for lunch. Flat metallic sandals, big sunglasses, a wide hat and a straw tote complete it. Choose waterproof earrings, because chlorine and salt dull plated jewelry fast. If you want more coverage, a kaftan with ties and modest side slits works. Quick-drying fabrics pack small and rinse out in the sink.
8. White Mini Dress Honeymoon Outfit

A white mini is the cheerful day dress of the trip: breakfast, shopping, wandering a harbour. Cotton eyelet, linen or poplin with comfortable straps and a skirt you can move in; puff sleeves or a square neck add the romance. Flat lace-up sandals, a crossbody basket, small pearl hoops, sunglasses and a silk scarf in your hair finish it. Thin anti-chafe shorts underneath solve hot-day rubbing and windy steps. Eyelet cotton is lightweight but marks easily with sunscreen, so put lotion on first and let it soak in before you dress.
9. Silk Camisole And Trousers Honeymoon Outfit

Silk camisole and wide trousers are what I suggest to brides who don’t feel like themselves in dresses. High-waisted trousers in ivory, beige or a pastel, a tucked camisole and a slim belt if there are loops create a long line. Pointed flats or low slingbacks, a compact clutch and gold jewelry, plus a light blazer for a formal restaurant. Wider straps or a smooth bralette underneath give support. Silk trousers crease at the lap after one dinner, so pack them rolled and look for a fluid crepe if you’re travelling for weeks.
10. Wrap Dress Honeymoon Outfit

Wrap dresses adjust to you, which makes them the most forgiving piece for a trip with big meals. A midi in a soft floral, a jewel tone or a pastel, with a V neck, block-heel sandals, a small leather bag and drop earrings. The V opens up when you lean or the wind catches it. Fashion tape at the neckline and a thin slip underneath fix that. For a cooler city, a cardigan cropped at the waist keeps the tie visible. Works for dinner, sightseeing and an evening show without changing shoes.
11. Blazer And Midi Dress Honeymoon Outfit

A soft blazer over a knit or satin midi turns a plain dress city-ready. Cream, blush, chocolate or black, with a relaxed blazer that still fits your shoulders; if the shoulder seam hangs past your own, it looks borrowed. Ballet flats, slingbacks or low kitten heels for paved streets, a top-handle bag, slim sunglasses and small earrings. Push the sleeves up in the day and roll them down at night, and add a narrow belt over the dress if you like a defined waist. It suits museums, lunches and evening reservations, and the blazer works with every other outfit here.
12. Cardigan And Floral Midi Honeymoon Outfit

Cobblestones and changeable weather call for a dress with a layer. A small-scale floral midi with a fine knit cardigan in one of the print’s colours ties the look together; button it fully as a top or leave it open. Cushioned ballet flats or Mary Janes keep you walking all day, with a soft leather shoulder bag, fine jewelry and sunglasses. A moderate skirt sits neatly under the cardigan, while a very full one bunches. Café breakfasts, galleries and gardens are its world. Tuck a compact umbrella in the bag if the forecast is unreliable.
13. Halter Maxi Honeymoon Outfit

Halter necks sit well on a boat, as long as the tie is secure. A double knot or a hook closure behind the neck is safer than a single bow in the wind. Choose a flowing maxi in fabric that won’t weigh you down in humidity, with a defined waist. White and ivory feel bridal; coral, turquoise or botanical prints suit the coast. Flat leather sandals or low wedges, a small woven clutch, a gold cuff and secure studs. Keep the hem off the ground, because docks and boat steps soak and tear long skirts. A low bun handles the breeze, and pack a wrap for after dark.
14. Wide Leg Jumpsuit Honeymoon Outfit

Jumpsuits look modern and need no thought in the morning. Pick adjustable straps, a defined waist and breathable fabric in ivory, terracotta, sea green or navy, which move from day to evening. Metallic flat sandals, a woven clutch and medium hoops suit it, with a cropped jacket or gauzy shawl that leaves the waist in view. I’d check the hem with your actual shoes; jumpsuit legs can’t be pulled up like a skirt on wet steps. A front zip or easy back closure makes bathroom trips far less of a production.
15. Black Maxi Dress Honeymoon Outfit

Black looks sharp against bright coastal scenery and is useful for dressier evenings. An open neckline, a little waist shaping and a skirt that moves are the base, with black or metallic strappy sandals, a gold clutch, sculptural earrings and a fine bracelet. In the heat, choose a lightweight fabric: black absorbs sun, and a heavy jersey becomes uncomfortable fast. Sit down in the dress before you buy it to see where the side slit lands. Hair up shows off the neckline; soft waves keep it relaxed. You’ll wear it long after the trip.
16. Satin Skirt And Knit Honeymoon Outfit

For mountain lodges and cool European evenings, a satin midi skirt with a light, slightly relaxed knit is soft and romantic. Ivory, pale grey, blush or soft blue knitwear, tucked loosely at the front. Ankle boots or closed-toe slingbacks, a small suede or leather bag and simple gold jewelry. Balance matters: an oversized knit goes with a straighter skirt, and a fitted one with a fuller bias-cut skirt. Knits snag on satin, so fold the sweater separately in the case, and both pieces mix with the rest of the wardrobe.
17. Shirt Dress And Ankle Boots Honeymoon Outfit

On a safari or hiking honeymoon, a belted shirt dress does more than anything else here. Breathable cotton or linen in olive, sand, stone or muted terracotta, with a midi hem, real pockets and roll-up sleeves. Supportive ankle boots or closed walking shoes, a crossbody bag, small studs and good sunglasses, plus a light utility jacket for cold mornings. Keep the belt loose for long drives. If you’ll be watching wildlife, skip bright colours and white, and choose fabric that shrugs off dust. It still looks put together at a lodge lunch.
18. Matching Knit Travel Honeymoon Outfit

Travel days are long, and a coordinated knit set looks neat while feeling like loungewear. A fitted tank or short-sleeve knit top with matching wide-leg trousers, plus a cardigan in the same colour for cold terminals and planes. Supportive white sneakers, a structured tote and a small crossbody bag keep it practical. Oatmeal, grey, navy or taupe rewear easily later in the trip. Make sure the trousers clear the floor in sneakers, since airport floors are filthy. Choose a knit with some structure; very soft jersey bags at the knee after a long-haul flight.
19. Tailored Vest And Trousers Honeymoon Outfit

A tailored vest and matching trousers give you a sharp city look. Fitted or gently shaped vest, high-waisted wide-leg trousers, in white, cream, pastel blue or warm beige, with a smooth camisole underneath if you want more coverage. Pointed slingback flats or low heels, a structured mini bag, bold earrings and slim sunglasses. Fit is everything here. The vest should lie flat across the chest with no pulling at the buttons, and the trousers should skim. Add a blazer for a three-piece on cooler evenings. Rooftop dinners and galleries suit it.
20. White Midi Dinner Honeymoon Outfit

Save a white midi dress for the last dinner. A fitted bodice with a flared or bias-cut skirt is the classic shape, in lace, satin, crepe or textured cotton depending on the restaurant. Metallic strappy heels, a pearl-trimmed clutch, fine earrings and a light wrap or cropped jacket. Hair in a low bun, ponytail or soft waves. If bright white feels too formal, ivory, champagne or pale blush work. I’d pack it in its own garment bag or folded in tissue at the top of the case, so it arrives without a crease or a sunscreen smudge, and it’ll be ready again for anniversaries.
Linen, Satin and Silk in a Suitcase
Many of these outfits use fabrics that crease. A few habits stop you arriving with a case of wrinkles.
- Roll knits, jersey and cotton; fold linen and satin flat with tissue between the folds.
- Pack evening pieces last, on top, in a garment bag or thin dry-cleaning plastic, which reduces friction creases.
- Unpack the first night and hang everything. Steam from a hot shower softens most creases in fifteen minutes.
- Bring a small travel steamer if you’re staying somewhere without one; ask the hotel first, many lend them.
Shoulders, Knees and Resort Dress Codes
Churches, mosques and temples in many destinations expect covered shoulders and knees, so keep a scarf or light shirt in your day bag. Some resort à la carte restaurants have evening dress rules too, often no beachwear and sometimes long trousers for men, which is worth checking before you pack for your partner as well. A quick look at the hotel’s restaurant page saves an awkward walk back to the room.
Shoes You Can Walk In and a Palette That Repeats
A good honeymoon wardrobe is romantic but never makes you fiddle with straps or regret your shoes. Pick from the looks above according to your itinerary and climate, and pack clothes that already feel like you, not a new personality. Keep to one colour family so bags, sandals, jewelry and layers work with everything. Save the dressiest outfit for one special night and fill the rest of the case with breathable fabrics, comfortable shoes and pieces that mix.
